CCD – Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (Catechesis)
is an association established in Rome in 1562 for the purpose of providing religious education. Its modern usage, often abbreviated CCD, is a religious education program of the Roman Catholic Church, normally designed for children. There is a counterpart for adults known as the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA).

CCD INFORMATION
Teachers/Aides needed for next year. If you can volunteer to instruct our students in the Religious Education Program, please call the Parish Office. It is a rewarding experience to work with the children. (If you have children in the program their registration fee will be waived if you volunteer to teach).

Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults
The process for becoming a Catholic is called The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) which involves a series of sessions. Your first step is to call St. Michael’s Church and tell them you would like to know more about becoming Catholic. This process can take several months depending on your knowledge of the faith and your baptismal status.
There will be a series of classes, either for an individual or in a group depending on the number of people interested. These classes will introduce, those interested, to important fundamentals of the Catholic Church including:
– The Catholic Faith
– What we believe
– Christ: Priest, Prophet and King – How that relates to our role as priest, prophet and king
– Conversion
– Sacraments – with emphasis on-
– Eucharist
– Reconciliation
– Catechism of the Catholic Church for Adults
– Seven Deadly Sins, Seven Lively Virtues
– The New Evangelization
The classes are meant to be interactive and engaging with time for discussion. Classes will meet a minimum of two evenings per month with hope of entering into full communion with the Church at the Easter Vigil. All classes will be conducted by the parish staff, including Priests, Deacon and laity.
Please contact the parish office for more information and for start dates.
